The following business plan was put together to answer the question, "Why start with appliance resale?":

• Not to make a lot of money. After restoration the appliances will sell for less than half of what they cost new.
• Build up skills in appliance buying, repair and restoration.
• Build a sound inventory for an appliance leasing business. The appliances must have:
• Good customer acceptance
• Parts availability
• Sound design with good reliability
• Learn basic small business functions:
• How to monitor and manage overhead
• Managing an inventory
• Interfacing with the public

This business will have low funding requirements. Appliance resale profits will be used to buy more inventory.

The appliances must be acquired for a low cost in order to show a profit after the cost of parts and expended labor.

You will be restoring appliances to improve their appearance and repairing them to regain all functions.

The following resources will be needed:

• Truck
• Tools
• Telephone

You may start with your garage but you will grow into larger and larger warehouses.

You will have to advertise the appliances that you want to sell in the local paper. A printed inventory will be needed to quote details to prospective buyers.
