If the icemaker doesn't work, you can replace it with a new one or repair it. Seriously consider replacing an old GE push up icemaker with a new IM2 kit which contains a Whirlpool compact icemaker modified for your refrigerator. Sometimes ice cube trays aren't so bad and they are very reliable.
