The gas burner assembly is used for generating heat in place of the electric heater coil in an electric dryer. When the thermostat demands heat, the burner assembly ignites and burns gas to provide it. The major components of a burner assembly are the gas valve assembly, the valve's solenoid coils, the ignitor and the radiant sensor. The following figure shows the components of a burner assembly manufactured by Maytag. Most other brands have similar components.
